On the training course “The substance and theory development of nursing-caring”

On a self-assessment scale from 0 to 10 the participants evaluated at the beginning of the course their knowledge about nursing and caring theories as rather low (mean 3.8 varying from 1 to 7. Here some participants’ reflections about what they knew about theories before the course:

    – I was aware of different nursing theories… but a beginner.. have introductory/superficial knowledge…

    – I have taught the methods of nursing theory but didn’t realize the application of them in practice. I know the theories but didn’t use them…

    – Nursing, as a profession, is committed to recognizing its own unparalleled body of knowledge vital to nursing practice — nursing science. As a science, nursing is based on the theory of what nursing is, what nurses do, and why. Nursing is a unique discipline and is separate from medicine. It has its own body of knowledge on which delivery of care is based.
